“We will never see a player like Virat as God has broken that diary”: Kohli gets ultimate praise

Virat Kohli is done and dusted from Test cricket, and the fans will never see him wearing a white jersey again. He remained a part of the longest format for 14 years and turned up for 123 matches, but the veteran is at peace after announcing his retirement from red-ball cricket. He will be missed as an overall package, as apart from his run-scoring ability, the energy he brought on the field was never seen before in the game.

His celebrations became the talk of the town, and he never allowed an opponent to mock or tease his teammates.

For Aakash Chopra, it is the end of the system that produces a player like Kohli. He feels that there will never be a player like him in cricket, as God has put a full stop to it after producing just one in a generation.

“We will never see a player like Virat Kohli as God has broken that diary. You can’t have a player now who can dominate across formats like him. We will see more players retiring from Test cricket to extend their careers in other format,” Aakash Chopra said on Star Sports.

“Let’s accept the fact that T20 cricket is on a rise and the number of matches has already increased. It will continue to grow in the future. New generation doesn’t want to watch Test cricket. Virat Kohli was the last of the genaration, who showed intensity in every format. Look it is not easy to play Test cricket as it requires your presence and attention for five days,” he added.

Test retirement will hit Virat Kohli hard – Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra said that Virat Kohli will soon start missing action as he was born to play cricket. “You can’t ask a warrior to become a teacher, as his job is to fight. This is what will happen in Virat Kohli’s case, as he will have to become a teacher, considering there will be no ODI cricket for months. Test cricket retirement will hit him harder than his retirement from T20Is,” he said.

“He was born to play cricket and he will miss the ball meeting the middle of his bat. I know family is important and you must spend time with your family members but Virat will miss Test cricket,” he added.
