Rajasthan Royals’ interim captain Riyan Parag was not pleased with the batting effort of his teammates against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025. The hosts were eyeing 200 runs but managed 182/6 in 20 overs, with CSK taking wickets in the middle and the death overs. Nitish Rana had put Rajasthan ahead with a fine of 81 runs off 36 balls, but the fall of wickets in a cluster restricted the 2008 champions.
The bowlers came to the rescue, and the impressive bowling display didn’t allow Chennai to go past the Royals’ total. They finished their innings on a score of 176, falling short by 6 runs.
Parag opined on his team’s victory in the post-match presentation ceremony. “It feels good to win a game in this year’s IPL. It came after two games, but it looks like a victory came after a long time. We were 20 runs short after the way our batters scored in the powerplay overs. We had two tough games, but forgetting about it and executing our plans against CSK was important,” Riyan Parag said.
He also revealed the reason behind not giving his best bowler, Jofra Archer, the last over of Chennai’s run chase.
“Jofra Archer was superb with the ball, but I went with my gut feeling and handed over the ball to Sandeep Sharma. Our fielding helped us despite putting 20 runs less on the board,” he added.
