During the chat, Prashanth Neel also opened up about getting an adult certificate. Stating that the film primarily tells the story of two childhood friends, Deva and Vardha, the director claimed that the film is a drama at its core.

“I have seen Telugu cinema for several years now and the violence in my film is pale in comparison to that. However, the idea was never to make a film that is so violent that it gets an A. But the guidelines have changed and the censor board had asked me to make certain cuts. I got so quiet when they said that because I didn’t make a vulgar film, the violence in the film was needed. I was disappointed but Prabhas told me it’s okay,” he said.

Salaar-KGF linked?

Neel also spoke about audiences comparing Salaar with KGF, thanks to the same colour palette making fans wonder if the two films are linked.

However, the director clarified that Salaar has nothing to do with KGF. “It wasn’t even a conscious choice to make them look the same. I just wanted to show the dark and gritty world they live in,” he said.
