Waqar Younis will resign from his post of Advisor of Cricket Affairs to Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, after just one series. He was given the role after Wasim Akram refused to come on board.
According to a report by Cricket Pakistan, Younis is miffed with some of the officials of the cricket board and has stopped going to the office. The PCB has already given a job advertisement, inviting new candidates.
“The board is ready to hire a new person and the ones who have applied would be interviewed,” the source said.
“Waqar was not treated properly by some of the influential people in the board. They refused to help him, which made his job difficult,” another source mentioned.
Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first Test of the series.
Earlier, Waqar Younis had spoke about a plan of hiring more former cricketers to take Pakistan cricket forward.
“You need legends and renowned names to enhance the quality of cricket in Pakistan. We will soon announce the names of those who will help us in the process,” he had said.
