Virat, Rohit’s future in T20Is to be revealed on January 5; Siraj, Bumrah to miss series against Afghanistan

After a historic win against South Africa in the 2nd Test match, India will shift their focus towards the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, which will serve as practice games for the T20 World Cup in June.

Meanwhile, the squad for the three-match T20I series is likely to be announced today alongside the squad for the first two Test matches against England. Major changes are expected in the 15-member list as Hardik Pandya, who has captained India in Rohit Sharma’s absence will miss the series because of his injury.

Suryakumar Yadav is also recovering from an injury that rules him out of action as well. Further, the Indian Express reported that Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, who were the stars with the ball against South Africa will be rested.

India’s schedule for T20 World Cup 2024

The schedule for T20 World Cup 2024 is likely to be released on January 8. Meanwhile, the tentative dates are out and India will face Pakistan on June 9 in New York.
