Virat Kohli completed 12,000 runs in the IPL 2024 opening match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings. Virat reached the milestone in the 8th over of the RCB innings.
He is the first Indian batter to reach the landmark. Kohli is also the second fastest to score 12,000 runs in the shortest format. He took 360 innings to script another extensive record in his career. Chris Gayle is the quickest, with 12K runs in 343 innings.
Fastest to 12000 T20 Runs (innings wise)
343 – Chris Gayle
360 – Virat Kohli
368 – David Warner
432 – Alex Hales
The right-handed batter has hit 8 hundreds and 91 fifties. Kohli is one of the most incredible batters, and the ongoing season is crucial for him if he wants to play in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. There are reports of him missing the bus as the management and the selectors are not in his favour.
However, considering his nature, he could deal in runs in the 17th season to give a befitting reply to his critics. India hasn’t won the ICC T20 World Cup since 2007, and despite making it to the knockouts, the team hasn’t been able to cross the finish line.
Meanwhile, he was dismissed after scoring 21 runs off 20 balls.
