Virat Kohli is just six runs away from breaking a new record for India in T20Is

On January 17, star batsman Virat Kohli will look to make history in the Bengaluru T20I against Afghanistan. Kohli is merely six runs away from a remarkable milestone that would make him the first Indian to achieve this feat.

Boasting an impressive T20I career, Kohli currently leads the charts as the highest run-scorer with 4037 runs. After 14 months, Virat Kohli made a stellar comeback to the Indian T20I squad in the second T20I at Indore. He scored 29 runs in just 16 balls.

This significant moment unfolds at Kohli’s adopted home ground, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He will don the Indian T20I jersey for the first time in over two years. India will look for a clean sweep having secured two wins in the three-match series.

Kohli eyes not only personal glory but also the opportunity to propel India to victory in their final T20I before T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament is scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the USA from June 1 to 29.

Virat Kohli’s quest for history extends beyond international cricket. He has contributed significantly in the IPL for RCB and Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

In a bid to become the first Indian to surpass 12,000 T20 runs, Kohli will join the elite club featuring Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik, and Kieron Pollard as the only players to achieve this remarkable milestone.
