Virat Kohli returned to his best in the India vs Pakistan match in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He completed his fifty with a trademark cover drive on Naseem Shah’s delivery in the 27th over of Team India’s chase. He came to the crease after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal and started dominating Pakistan bowlers without wasting time like in the previous contest against Bangladesh.
He drove the ball to perfection and didn’t allow the rivals to take wickets in quick succession. The 36-year-old used his feat against the pacers to clear the 30-yard circle. When he reached the fifty-run mark, Harsha Bhogle praised the batter for his display.
“Vintage Virat Kohli is back. He has played his trademark cover drive on a few occasions. It is the best innings in a long time in this format of the game. He allowed the ball to come onto his bat. He came for the practice session much earlier than his teammates before the match against Pakistan. He brought spinners with himself, with the leg-spinner told to bowl a bit short to allow him to play from the back foot,” Harsha Bhogle said.
“His trademark cover drive is back, and Kohli is looking dangerous. He will not allow runs to dry up and there is no way you can stop him from scoring. Virat is back at his best,” Bazid Khan said.
