Top gainers & losers today 22nd July: Sensex up 150 pts, Eternal lead gainers, realty stocks drag

Equity benchmark indices traded with modest gains in the mid-trading session, highly reactive to earnings season.

Sensex rose 151.26 pts or 0.18 per cent at 82,351.60 as at 12.51 pm, after opening at 82,527.43 against the previous close of 82,200.34. Nifty 50 was up 20.60 pts or 0.08 per cent to 25,111.30.

Midcap and smallcap indices slid 0.47 per cent and 0.13 per cent, respectively.

Majority of sectoral indices dipped to trade in the negative territory. Realty and PSU Bank indexes dropped 0.96 per cent and 0.93 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, metal, private bank and financial services staged resilience.

Top gainers & losers today

Shares of Eternal led the gainers of Nifty 50 following Q1 results. Titan, HDFC Life, Hindalco and Maruti inched up nearly 1 per cent among the Sensex firms. On the other hand, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Shriram Finance, IndusInd Bank, Jio Financial and Eicher Motors were among the major laggards.

Among the realty index, Raymond, Anant Raj, Godrej Properties and Brigade depreciated over 1-2 per cent.

Nifty Bank was flat, ICICI Bank, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank trading with marginal gains, while AU Small Finance, Canara Bank. PNB, IndusInd and IDFC First Bank declined the most by 1-3 per cent.

Market breath was balanced as 1,345 stocks advanced and 1,394 declined of all the 2,842 stocks that were traded on the National Stock Exchange.

Dalmia Bharat, Choice International, Datamatics, EID Parry, Eternal, Force Motors, ICICI Bank and Ixigo were among the 66 stocks that hit a 52-week high. 21 stocks hit a 52-week low.

Emcure Pharma and 64 other shares hit the upper circuit, and 32 traded at the lower circuit.

Midcap and smallcap movers

Under the midcap segment, Paytm soared 3 per cent ahead of results. UPL, Nykaa, Vishal Mega Mart and Exide Industries gained nearly 2 per cent. AU Small Finance Bank, Aurobindo Pharma, Voltas and Jubilant Foods declined 2-3 per cent.

Shares of Ramco Cement, Godfrey Phillips, NH, Afcons and Data Patterns climbed 2-4 per cent in the smallcap segment, while Aarti Industries, Reliance Power, PPL, Indiamart and Anant Raj fell 2-4 per cent.

On the BSE, AGI Greenpac, Eternal, Sharda Motor, Tilaknagar zoomed 8-14 per cent. On the flip side, 360 ONE WAM, Fusion, Aarti Industries, Goldiam and Man Infra declined 3-7 per cent.
