Tesla Cuts Cybertruck Leasing To $899, Adds $55k Buyout Option

  • The standard leasing option includes a $7,500 downpayment, although this figure can be reduced or scratched completely.
  • Buying out the regular Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive will cost $54,930 at the end of the lease, and the Cyberbeast $67,510.

It’s been less than a month since Tesla made the Cybertruck available to lease, and it’s already cutting prices. Shoppers now also have the option to buy the electric pickup at the end of the lease, although it won’t be cheap.

Leases start at $899 per month for 36 months, with 10,000 miles annually for the base all-wheel-drive Cybertruck, previously priced at $999 per month. Tesla’s standard leasing deal requires a hefty downpayment of $7,500. Factor that in, and you’ll be paying an average of $1,107 per month for 36 months, which works out to be $39,864 over the life of the lease.

Tesla’s leasing calculator allows shoppers to customize their downpayment. If you scrap the downpayment altogether, the monthly price rises to $1,142 for 36 months or $41,112 all up.

Late last month, Tesla also introduced lease buyouts for the first time. In the case of the Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive, the buyout totals a hefty $54,930 plus taxes, fees, and a $350 purchase fee. Add that to the $41,112 you could pay over the life of the lease if opting for no downpayment, and you’ll end up spending $96,392 before unspecified taxes and fees. To put that into perspective, it costs $79,990 to buy the same Cybertruck model outright.

Tesla has also cut leasing prices for the flagship Cyberbeast, offering it for $999 per month for 36 months with 10,000 annual miles and a $7,500 downpayment, an effective cost of $1,207 per month. This equates to a total of $43,464. Drop the downpayment to zero and the monthly costs rise to $1,277 or $45,972 for the life of the loan.

A buyout option is also available for the Cyberbeast, but it costs even more. Those wanting to purchase the truck at the end of their lease must pony up $67,510 plus taxes, fees, and a $350 purchase fee. Add that to the $45,972 already paid with no downpayment, and you’re looking at $113,832 for a Cyberbeast that can be purchased for $99,990.
