Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 83 runs in their last game of the Indian Premier League 2025. GT, who have already qualified for the playoffs, failed to get going in a chase of 231 runs. The hosts were dismissed for 147 runs in 18.3 overs, with no batter scoring a fifty.
Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad took three wickets each at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With their second consecutive defeat, Gujarat are likely to miss the top two finish.
“We lost the match in the powerplay overs. We never came back in the contest. 230 is a big target on any wicket. Teams that are already eliminated don’t have anything to lose. We failed to handle the pressure. It is important to stop the run flow in the middle overs,” Shubman Gill said.
“If you don’t take wickets, things will become challenging for you. This would not be easy to accept. But on the positive side, we have two or three important games coming up. I am heading back to my hometown,” he added.
Gill won the toss and invited Chennai to bat first at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Devon Conway and Dewald Brevis hit fifties to take the score to 230/5 in 20 overs. Brevis, who amassed 57 runs off 23 balls, was named the Player of the Match.
