After his ankle surgery, India’s top batter, Suryakumar Yadav, rehabilitates at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. However, it is still not clear whether he will play in the first two games of his franchise, Mumbai Indians, in IPL 2024.
MI will play their first game on Sunday, March 24, against the Gujarat Titans, which is a race against time for one of the most explosive batters.
“Surya is on track to play in the Indian Premier League 2024 but it is not clear whether he will be given a clearance by the NCA for the two matches against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad (March 27),” a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity.
He has been involved in the Strength and Conditioning (S&C) training but has yet to start batting.
“There is stil time before MI’s opening game but nothing can’t be confirmed on him at the moment,” the source said.
In 60 games, he has accumulated 2141 runs at a strike rate of 171-plus. He has hit four T20I hundreds and is the number-one batter in the ICC T20I Rankings. Mumbai want him back to win big games in the upcoming season.
He will also be a key batter for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to be played in the West Indies and the USA.
