New Delhi: IPL 2024 is less than a month away. Ahead of the 17th edition, England legend Stuart Broad namedropped his favourite IPL team.
Broad, who retired from international cricket in 2023, does not hold vast experience in IPL, as he featured in just two seasons when Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) signed him in 2011-12.
Ahead of the coming season, Broad rated inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals as his favourite side because of his English friends and also their pink kit. In a video shared by the Royals, Stuart remarked, “Generally I try and support my friends wherever they play. I must admit Rajasthan Royals, where Jos Buttler plays and Jofra Archer used to be and I also quite like the pink kit.”
In 2011, Broad managed to play just nine games and suffered a calf injury. He even missed the following year because of an injury and was released from the squad.
Talking about Broad’s friends Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer, they are doing well in the cash-studded league. In 96 matches, Buttler has 3223 runs, which features five centuries. Jos first represented Mumbai Indians in 16-17 season and later moved to the Royals in 2018.
Meanwhile, Archer was with the Royals from 2018-21 but later shifted to MI in 2022. However, he has been mostly out of action because of elbow injury.
