South Africa’s great explains how bowlers can dismiss Virat Kohli in upcoming two-match Test series

Virat Kohli is about to return to international cricket after a long break. He was on a break after Team India’s defeat against Australia in the ICC World Cup final. The veteran also skipped the white-ball matches in South Africa. He is returning for the two-match Test series against the Proteas. If cricket experts are to be believed, it is India’s best chance to win their maiden Test series in the Island Nation.

Virat Kohli’s performance will be crucial for the visitors on the fast and bouncy tracks. However, former pacer Fanie de Villiers has a tip for South Africa bowlers on how to dismiss Virat in red-ball cricket.

Kohli has been magnificent in South Africa when it comes to red-ball cricket, with two hundreds and as many fifties. Kohli is the second highest run-scorer in Test cricket in South Africa after Sachin Tendulkar (1161 runs in 15 matches).

Speaking to PTI, Villiers advised South African fast bowlers to show patience against Virat Kohli.

“Bowl in the fourth stump like and be patient. Wait for the delivery which goes a bit far away. You can be aggressive against a good batter,.”

“Like in case of Sachin Tendulkar, you can’t wait for the incoming delivery to hit his pads for leg before. Virat is similar. You will have to wait for the one that comes in sharply or goes out dismiss him,” he said. This will be Kohli’s fourth visit to South Africa.
