After the controversies surrounding black socks in Leeds and a Nike T-shirt in Birmingham, Team India captain Shubman Gill has once again violated ICC regulations—this time during the Lord’s Test—an act for which punishment is also provisioned.
On the first day of the match, during the national anthem, Gill was seen wearing a red vest underneath his jersey. According to Article 19.44 of ICC regulations, any visible undergarment must be white:
“No coloured vest, undershirt or compression garment should be visible.”
Perhaps unaware at first, Gill quickly managed the situation. Just before the game began, he buttoned up his shirt, effectively covering the red vest from view and avoiding potential disciplinary action.
