Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill is confident of scoring 300 runs in the Indian Premier League 2025. The previous season saw the 250-run total breached nine times, with three totals in the 240s. Punjab Kings successfully completed a chase of 262 against the Kolkata Knight Riders with 8 balls to spare.
Gill said the Impact Rule allows the franchises to field an extra batter or bowler depending on the situation of the match. “The pace of the game has reached a level where we think that scoring 300 runs is just a matter of time. We came close to achieveing it in the 17th season. The Impact Rule adds excitement and makes the IPL more entertaining,” Gill said on JioHotstar.
“The best part of the IPL is that a new player emerges every day as a star. You see unknown players giving match-winning performances. If you win, the momentum is with you and you can register four or five consecutive victories. However, injuries can impact the teams. It is tough to find suitable replacements. Despite these challenges, IPL is still the most thrilling tournament,” he added.
Gill was appointed Gujarat Titans’ captain when Hardik Pandya was traded back to Mumbai Indians. Gill amassed 426 runs at a strike rate of 147. However, GT finished 8th in the points table with six wins in 14 matches.
He also shed light on his leadership qualities. “As a leader, it is important to understand what helps each player to perform at their best. Every player is different, and you must unite all the individuals for the winning cause. The more you play, the more experienced you become. Earlier, I didn’t like getting involved in the conversation, but as a leader, it is a must to talk to the players. When a leader talks to his players, it gives them confidence and helps to build a strong team.”
Gujarat Titans bought Jos Buttler, Glenn Phillips, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Kagiso Rabada, and Gerald Coetzee in the mega auction.
