Sandeep Reddy Vanga on replacing Parineeti Chopra with Rashmika Mandanna in ‘Animal’: ‘I’m sorry but…’

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal is a massive blockbuster at the box-office that has given all the members of the cast their career’s biggest hit, including the director himself. It’s no news that before Rashmika Mandanna, Parineeti Chopra was signed opposite Ranbir Kapoor for the role of Geetanjali. The director has now broken his silence on replacing the ‘Ishaqzaade‘ actress.

Speaking to Komal Nahta, the filmmaker said, “It is my fault. I told her if possible, please forgive me. Some characters don’t feel set in some people. I don’t believe in auditions; I go with instincts only. From day one I like her acting, I always wanted to cast her as Preeti also in Kabir Singh but even that could not happen. It’s long due, I always want to work with her, I told her and she knew that.”

Vanga added, “I said sorry, nothing is bigger than the film. So I am going ahead with someone else. She felt bad, but she understood why I am saying that.”

Their shot to fame was criticising ‘Kabir Singh’…Nobody speaks about the craft, the editing, sound design, because they are literally illiterate, uneducated when it comes to films. They have no sense of how to criticise the film or review the film.”
