Rohit Sharma’s one-liner stumped Rishabh Pant after his iconic Gabba innings against Australia

Rishabh Pant played the best Test knock of his Test career at the Gabba. His innings on Day 5 of the fourth and final Test in Brisbane in January 2021 sealed a famous victory for India to register a 2-1 series win. His unbeaten 89 helped the visitors reach the target of 328 runs with three wickets in hand.

The series also secured Pant’s place as the number one wicket-keeper in the longest format. His car accident stopped his progress for more than a year but the star batter returned to Test cricket with a bang.

He scored a hundred in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai and played a key role in the host nation’s win.

Earlier, he was also instrumental in the Men in Blue’s title triumph in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

As Rishabh prepares for another tour of Australia, he recalled his Gabba heroics on Star Sports.

“Rohit bhai said that you have no idea what you have achieved. I was stumped by his words because my goal was to win the match for the country, but now I understand what that innings meant.”

He scored 274 runs in three Test matches at an average of 68.50, laced with three fifties.

Pant is currently playing in the three-match Test series against New Zealand. The first is in progress in Bengaluru. Following the series, the India National Cricket Team will leave for Australia for five red-ball games.
