Rahul Dravid hails Shivam Dube’s performance against Afghanistan

India’s head coach Rahul Dravid made a big statement regarding the team combination for the upcoming T20 World Cup in June. Dravid shed light on the curious case of Shivan Dube, who won the Player of the Series award in the recently concluded three-match T20I series between India and Afghanistan.

Shivam has impressed everyone with his all-round performance in the absence of Hardik Pandya, who has been out of the Indian team due to an ankle injury that he suffered during the 2023 World Cup. Many cricket experts believe the 30-year-old all-rounder should get a ticket to the T20 World Cup 2024. Meanwhile, Dravid was left impressed with this player’s performance.

He said, “Dube raised his hand and said, ‘Look, I am here, and I have these skills, and if you are looking for something like that, I have the ability.’”

“We found out that he has a great ability to hit spinners in the middle overs. He also bowled some good overs with the ball, and Shivam has learned some lessons on pitches like Bangalore,” Dravid added.

It is worth noting that the 30-year-old scored 124 runs in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan and also took two wickets.

Dravid’s statement was a clear indication that Dube is a strong contender for a place in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup. His all-round abilities and ability to perform in different conditions make him a valuable asset for the team.
