“People have forgotten about….”: Virat Kohli reveals why batters are not consistent in IPL 2025

Virat Kohli and Sai Sudharsan are the two most consistent batters in the Indian Premier League 2025. Kohli has already moved up to the No.1 spot in the list of the leading run-scorers in the ongoing 18th edition of the tournament. The veteran has hit 6 half-centuries from 10 matches and is contributing in almost all the games. However, the other big names have faltered. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, the most expensive signings, are finding it hard to get going with the bat.

The bowlers have neutralized Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. Virat feels that batters have got it wrong on the pitches that help the bowlers. After playing a role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s latest win over Delhi Capitals, he shed light on what is needed in the shortest format of the game.

“I make sure that singles and doubles don’t stop. People are forgetting about the need to stitch partnerships in this format. We have been seeing this year that hitting from ball one is not the safest option. You need to spend time in the middle before going for shots,” Virat Kohli said.

Kohli also mentioned that RCB are looking more settled this year. “We have extra added power. Some batters can hit five sixes from 10 balls. Tim David is there, and now we have added Romario Sheperd to the team,” he added.

According to Virat, it was not easy to bat in Delhi. “It was a tough win if we look at the surface. The wicket played differently from what it is in this part of the world. I kept checking with the dugout if we were on the right track during our run chase,” he concluded.
