Pakistan name Fatima Sana as captain for women’s World Cup 2025, Eyman included as an uncapped player

Fatima Sana will captain Pakistan’s 15-player squad for the first time in an ODI World Cup, scheduled between 30th September to 2nd November. Sana, who previously played for Pakistan in the last ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, also captained the team during this year’s ICC Women’s CWC Qualifier in Lahore. Under her guidance, Pakistan remained undefeated, securing its spot in this year’s global tournament, set to take place in India and Sri Lanka.

Eyman Fatima, a right-handed batter who recently made her T20I debut against Ireland, has been included in the squad.

In addition, six players – Natalia Parvaiz (8 ODIs, 24 T20Is), Rameen Shamim (8 ODIs, 11 T20Is), Sadaf Shamas (15 ODIs, 12 T20Is), Sadia Iqbal (27 ODIs, 50 T20Is), Shawaal Zulfiqar (3 ODIs, 9 T20Is), and Syeda Aroob Shah (2 ODIs, 15 T20Is) – will play for the first time in the ODI World Cup.

The squad has seen two changes since the Qualifiers. Eyman and Sadaf have replaced Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi, who, along with Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar, have been included in the five-player non-travelling reserve list.

All of Pakistan’s group-stage games will take place at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. If Pakistan qualify for the semi-final on 29th October and the final on 2nd November, both matches will also take place in Colombo.

The PCB announced that the same squad will compete in a three-match ODI series against South Africa, set to take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from 16 to 22 September.

“The 15 players, along with five reserve players, will participate in a 14-day camp starting on Friday, 29 August. Under the guidance of the coaching staff led by Muhammad Wasim, the players will engage in practice sessions and 50-over practice matches.
