Pakistan finally registered a win in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 after they defeated Canada by 7 wickets. Chasing 107 runs in New York, the Men in Blue completed the task in 17.3. Mohammad Rizwan scored a fifty, while Mohammad Amir and Haris Rauf took two wickets each.
Former Pakistan player Wasim Akram once again slammed the players for their scoring rate during the run chase. Akram was asked about the need to reach the target a bit early to improve the net run rate in order to be ahead of other teams if the situation arrives at the end of the group stage.
Wasim didn’t like the question and hit out at Babar and Rizwan. “Pakistan has 36 coaches sitting outside, and the players should know what is needed to improve the net run rate. It is not our duty to tell the players about the scoring rate from. The information should come from the dressing room,” Wasim Akram said on Star Sports.
For the record, Pakistan’s NNR was negative before the contest against Canada. However, the sub-continent team now has a net run rate of 0.191 after three games.
Babar Azam’s team will face Ireland in their last match on June 16.
