Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player AB de Villiers wants to see the bowling of the Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya in the IPL 2024. De Villiers said Hardik’s role as an all-rounder is important for the five-time champions.
The preparations are in full swing for the 17th season of the tournament with a new skipper at the helm of the affairs. Hardik replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of one of the most successful franchises.
Pandya will look to lead the team from the front by using his all-round abilities, something that he showcases during his two-year stint with Gujarat Titans.
“Mumbai Indians needed Hardik Pandya to come back to make the balance of the team strong. I hope he will play a big role with the ball in his hand and be the contributor that Mumbai Indians need him to be,” AB de Villiers said.
AB de Villiers also praised Mumbai Indians’ pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
“I am looking forward to his bowling. He was missed during the last season. Bumrah is a top performer. When the pressure is on, you want Bumrah in your team. He take big wickets and can make the ball move both ways,” he added.
Bumrah missed the IPL 2023 due to his back injury. He was out of cricket for almost a year but made an impressive return to international cricket. Bumrah is one of the most successful bowlers in the Indian Premier League.
