New Zealand pacer Tim Southee names Indian cricketer as the player he would want to swap lives with for a day

New Zealand’s legendary bowler Tim Southee has named former India skipper MS Dhoni as the cricketer he wants to swap lives with for one day. The champion seamer said he would like to live a day like Dhoni.

Southee is one of the best pacers in the world. He debuted in 2008 and has featured in 100 Tests, 161 ODIs, and 126 T20Is, taking 765 wickets in international cricket.

Southee recently came to the CEAT cricket rating awards in Mumbai. During the ceremony, he was asked to name a cricketer with whom he would like to swap lives for a day, to which he took the name of wicket-keeper batter MS Dhoni.

“MS Dhoni – just wanted to see how life will be as MS Dhoni.”

Dhoni led India to three ICC titles in his career. The Men in Blue won the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy under his captaincy. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he lifted five titles with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

“There is no one better than Jasprit Bumrah”: Tim Southee

Southee hailed Team India’s speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who has been unstoppable across formats. He said that there is no one better than Bumrah at the moment.

“He bounced back from a major back injury and is bowling even better. It is difficult to play all the formats, but Bumrah has been magnificent in all three,” Southee said.

“We are seeing Bumrah as his best in all game formats. He is simply brilliant. I don’t think there is anyone better than him. He is tremendous,” the 35-year-old added.

Bumrah took 15 wickets in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and was named the Player of the Tournament. Since then, he has been on a break and will likely return to the Indian team for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh.
