Mitchell Marsh excited to lead Australia in T20I series against New Zealand with Pat Cummins as another leader in the team

New Delhi: Australia will face New Zealand in a three-match T20I series starting on February 21. Mitchell Marsh will lead the side. Meanwhile, ODI & Test captain Pat Cummins is back in the side for the shortest format of the game. In the latest events, Marsh opined on the fact that he would lead the side in Cummins’ presence.

Marsh got excited about the possibility of giving instructions to Cummins. “I can’t wait to tell him what to do. I’m normally filling in for his press conferences when he’s had enough, so I’ll get him back at some stage,” Marsh jokingly said in the pre-match press conference.

“But I also feel pretty lucky to have somebody like Pat as another leader within our group to fall back on, and the experienced heads we’ve got that will help me at certain times throughout this series.”

“I just think their experience (Cummins and Starc), certainly at this level and the three of them (with Hazlewood) work together so well.”

Marsh also shed light on the importance of having the likes of Steve Smith, Cummins, and Hazlewood back in the side after missing out from the West Indies series, where the Men in Yellow won 2-1.

“We’re lucky to have those guys back. Over the international schedule you don’t see those guys play a lot of T20 international cricket together so to have them back and building towards a World Cup is great,” he revealed.
