LSG debutant Mayank Yadav clocks 156 kmph against Punjab Kings, takes three wickets

Mayank Yadav, who is playing his first game of his IPL career, clocked 156 kmph against Punjab Kings. He bowled five deliveries, which touched the 150 kmph barrier in his first two overs in LSG’s second match in IPL 2024.

Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow couldn’t handle Mayank’s pace and looked uncomfortable. Bairstow was dismissed while trying to play a big shot on Yadav’s delivery.

Mayak now holds the record for the fastest ball in IPL 2024. His 155.8 kmph beat the previous best of Nandre Burger. The Proteas pacer is playing for Rajasthan Royals, and his fastest delivery was 153 mph.

Former India player Harbhajan Singh was mighty pleased and urged the franchise to give him a consistent run in the 17th season of the tournament.

“Where was he hiding? IPL has unearthed another talent. I am liking his bowling. Lucknow Super Giants should play him all the games. This guy looks set for a better future. It is very rare to find bowlers who can breach the 150 kmph mark,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.

He got rid of Prabhsimran Singh to take his second wicket of the match. Mayank added another scalp in the form of Jitesh Sharma. LSG bought him for INR 20 lakh.

The 21-year-old plays for Delhi in domestic cricket and is new to the system.
