UP Warriorz defeated defending champions Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets in Match No.6 of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Vrinda Dinesh, who failed to impress against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC), was injured while fielding and was ruled out from batting. The Warriorz picked Kiran Navgire as the second opener, along with Alyssa Healy, and it turned out to be a maserstroke.
Navgire went on a carnage and the Warriorz added 61 runs in the powerplay. The run rate was brought down to 7.21 while chasing 162. Navgire scored 57 runs off 31 deliveries, with 6 fours and 4 sixes.
Healy accumulated 33 runs off 29 balls and scripted a 94-run partnership for the opening wicket in 9.1 overs with Navgire.

However, Grace Harris and Deepti Sharma added an unbeaten 65-run to take the Warriorz to win with 21 balls to spare. Harris was unbeaten on 38 runs off 17 balls, with 6 fours and a six. Deepti managed 27 off 20 nalls.
Matthews comeback to form for Mumbai Indians
Earlier, Mumbai Indians put up 161/6 in 20 overs, with Hayley Matthews making 55 with 9 fours and a six. She put on 50 runs off 8 overs with Yastika Bhatia, who scored 26.
Amelia Kerr amassed 23 off 16 before Deepti got rid of her.
Pooja Vastrakar and Issy Wong, struck 18 and 15. It was the first win for the UP Warriorz in WPL 2024, and they are in the 4th spot. MI are second, but their net run rate took a beating and has dropped to -0.182.
