Thirteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the youngest-ever Indian Premier League (IPL) player. Rajasthan Royals bought the left-handed batter for INR ₹1.10 crore at the IPL 2025 auction.
Suryavanshi represented India in the U19 Asia Cup. He scored 67 runs off 36 balls in the semifinal against Sri Lanka. The teenager hit five sixes and six boundaries.
While Suryavanshi is being hailed for his attacking batting, former Pakistani player Junaid Khan has questioned the batter’s real age. He shared a video of Suryavanshi hitting sixes from the semifinal of the U19 Asia Cup.
“Can a 13-year-old kid really hit such a long six????” he wrote.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi amassed 176 runs in five innings in Asia Cup. He accumulated just nine in the final against Bangladesh, who thumped the Indian team by 59 runs.
He has been accused of age fraud after his old interview went viral. He had revealed that he would be 14 in September 2023.
Suryavanshi’s father Sanjiv is ready to go for the bone test once again to put an end to age fraud stories.
Suryavanshi will share the dressing room with Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jofra Archer, and Nitish Rana in IPL 2025. The franchise will be coached by Rahul Dravid.
