Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah recently spoke about the different leadership styles of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni. He shed light on how these three influenced the Indian team and his development as a bowler. Bumrah has played under their leadership. He made his debut under Dhoni’s captaincy and then found his mark during Virat’s tenure.
Bumrah was given complete freedom by Rohit Sharma.
“Rohit has empathy towards bowlers, despite being a batter,” Bumrah told The Indian Express. He hailed Sharma for understanding the emotional side of the players as well. “Rohit Sharma pays attention to feedbacks. He is not rigid,” Jasprit Bumrah said.
Bumrah also shared his experiences of playing under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. “Dhoni gave me a lot of security. He never over planned things as a skipper. His trust helped me during the early phase of my career,” he added.
For Bumrah, Virat was inspiring and demanding. “Virat Kohli is passionate, full of energy and likes to express himself on the field.”
Jasprit credited Virat for improving the fitness levels of the players and still making his presence felt as a leader.
“Virat Kohli is not a captain but he is always active as a leader. A team is run by 11 players.”
