Ishan Kishan is missing from action since he opted out of the South Africa tour mid-way due to mental fatigue. He hasn’t played in any Ranji Trophy game for Jharkhand and has fallen out of favor with the Indian team management.
The batter was recently seen practicing in Baroda. The 25-year-old has been in the city for the past few weeks and is honing his skills at the Reliance Stadium. However, there is no information on his availability for the state team.
Kishan is training at the Kiran More Academy along with Hardik and Krunal. Hardik is the new captain of Mumbai Indians, an IPL franchise Ishan plays for.
According to Cricbuzz, Kiran More has confirmed that Ishan is working hard at his academy. Still, he refused to disclose more details as the legendary India player is currently with the Mumbai Indians’ Women’s Premier League team.
Kishan hasn’t played a match since November last year. After leaving the team in South Africa, he has shown no interest in competing in a game, despite head coach Rahul Dravid’s comment that he should play in a domestic match before being considered for Team India.
He will not be playing in Jharkhand’s next Ranji Trophy game against Haryana on February 9. There is a possibility of him not getting a BCCI central contract because of his prolonged absence. He is currently in the Grade C category, with an annual retainership of INR 1 crore.
“I don’t want to repeat the same thing about Ishan Kishan. Whenever he is ready, he needs to play some matches. I didn’t say he has to play domestic matches. The choice is his, and we are not forced to do anything.
“He hasn’t started playing, and it seems he is not ready. Ishan can only return to the IPL in March-May,” Rahul Dravid had said.
The team selection for the last three tests is expected to take place in the next two days. Virat Kohli has made himself available as he is out of India due to a family emergency.
