Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan shared a fun memory from India’s 2013 Champions Trophy win. He said one of his favorite moments was when Virat Kohli did the famous Gangnam Style dance. Dhawan, now 39, said winning the tournament in England is a memory he will always treasure.
Dhawan made a mark on the international stage during the 2013 Champions Trophy, being named Player of the Series after amassing 363 runs in five innings at an impressive average of 90.75. In an exclusive interview with Timesofindia.com, the former opener reflected on the unforgettable moments of India’s triumph in the 2013 tournament.
“Winning the trophy with my teammates after such a challenging tournament is a memory I’ll hold onto forever. Honestly, there’s nothing quite like that feeling! Another unforgettable moment was when Virat busted out his Gangnam Style dance after our victory—we all laughed ,” Dhawan shared.
“I had the honor of scoring centuries in my comeback matches—one against South Africa and another against the West Indies. But above all, it’s the time spent with the team in the dressing room that means the most. Those moments of laughter, conversations, and team camaraderie are something I’ll cherish always. I miss them dearly,” the left-hander reflected.
“India’s current squad is in a fantastic shape—well-rounded and strong. We’ve got seasoned players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah, and there are young talents like Arshdeep Singh and Yashasvi Jaiswal coming through the ranks. Our batting depth is solid, and the form of our pacers has been outstanding. I’m confident we have the potential to win any tournament we enter.”

Team India will kick off their Champions Trophy 2025 journey with a match against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20. The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan showdown will take place at the same venue on February 23.
