India defeated Ireland by 8 wickets in their campaign opener of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Chasing 97 runs, the Men in Blue completed the task in 12.2 overs. Rohit Sharma scored a century but left the field after getting hit on his shoulder. He was in pain and the head coach Rahul Dravid and physio decided to avoid any risk.
The pitch used for the game was declared unfit by former players. Earlier, Indian pacers completely dismantled the rival batting unit. Hardik Pandya dismissed three batters, while Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah got two wickets each.
