IND vs PAK: Wasim Akram picks the winner if Test series is held on spinning tracks

Wasim Akram feels that Pakistan have a chance to beat India if a Test series is held on spinning tracks. Akram commented after India’s 0-3 home series defeat against New Zealand and Pakistan’s 2-1 over England at home.

India’s unbeaten streak of 12 years on home soil has also ended. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were not clinical with the ball, leaving the team in a vulnerable position. The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were found wanting.

Akram spoke to Michael Vaughan during the first ODI between Australia and Pakistan.

“I want to see India and Pakistan playing a Test series,” Michael Vaughan said. “It will be huge and good for the game,” Akram replied.

“Pakistan can now win against India on the rank-turners,” Vaughan added. “Pakistan have a chance to beat India in Test cricket on spinning pitches. India were hammered by New Zealand 0-3 at home,” Akram further said.

After losing the first Test by an innings and 47 runs, Pakistan went back to spinning tracks and won the games in Multan and Rawalpindi against England. Sajid Khan and Noman Ali were unplayable and took 39 out of 40 wickets in the last two games.

In the first ODI, Australia defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, The Men in Green were all out for 203. Mitchell Starc was named the Player of the Match for registering bowling figures of 3/33.

Haris Rauf (3 wickets) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (2 wickets) almost won the game for their side but Pat Cummins’ 32 not out sealed the game in Australia’s favour.
