India seamer Mohammed Siraj and Australia player Travis Head will be charged by the International Cricket Council (ICC) following their heated argument during Australia’s first innings in the second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The match ended in favor of the host nation, as they registered a 10-wicket win to level the series 1-1.
The incident happened on the second day of the contest at the Adelaide Oval after Siraj bowled Head for 140 runs from 141 deliveries with a yorker. The Indian speedster was targeted by Australian fans near the boundary rope, but he didn’t say anything and instead urged the crowd to continue teasing him. Earlier, Siraj had given a fiery send-off to Travis Head, who abused him while walking back to the dressing room.
According to a report in The Daily Telegraph, both players will go through a hearing over their verbal slugfest. However, they are likely to avoid any suspension as on-field arguments carry a lower sanction.
Head took their fight a bit far as he lied in the press conference that he said well bowled to Siraj, but in reality, he abused him.
However, Siraj countered his claim, saying he was first abused by the batter, and that’s why he reacted in that fashion.
The duo spoke to each other when Siraj came out to bat on Day 3 of the match. It seems they have buried their hatchet.
