Yuzvendra Chahal has opened up on his divorce from Dhanashree Verma. He spoke about what went wrong in their relationship and his struggles amid cheating allegations.

The couple married in 2020, but things were not fine between them from the third year of their union. Speaking to Raj Shamani, Chahal said that he didn’t talk about his divorce until it was finalised.

“It was going on for a long time. We didn’t show anything to the world and behaved like a normal couple,” he said.

The leg-spinner highlighted that he and Dhanashree were focused on their careers, and it became difficult to give time to the relationship. “A relationship is a compromise. If one is angry, the other has to listen. I was playing for India, and she was busy with her things. This went for 2 years,” he added.

“It was not able to give time to the relationship. Two working people can stay together. Everyone has their goals, and you have to support them as a partner. You are working for 18-20 years and you can’t leave it for a relationship,” he mentioned.

Chahal shed light on cheating allegations. “I have never cheated in my life. I am a loyal person and always think from my heart. People don’t know anything, but they started blaming me. I have two sisters and I know how to respect a woman,” he explained.

Chahal admitted that he had suicidal thoughts due to public scrutiny and his struggles.

“I had suicidal thoughts, I was tired of my life, I used to cry for 2 hours. I couldn’t sleep, and it went on for 40-45 days. I was scared,” he concluded.
