MS Dhoni is facing massive flak after Chennai Super Kings’ 25-run defeat against Delhi Capitals in the 18th season of the IPL. The veteran batter batted at the no.7 slot and scored an unbeaten 30 runs off 26 balls despite coming to the middle in the 11th over. He didn’t show any intent from the start and only hit 1 six and 1 four in a chase of 184 runs. Chennai lost just five wickets but could only reach 158. The third consecutive loss in IPL 2025 has pushed them to the ninth spot in the points table. The former skipper has been accused of not helping the franchise during challenging times in the batting department.
Due to knee injuries, the 43-year-old hasn’t shown interest in facing a lot of deliveries or batting in the middle order. Sidhu is against this approach of the most successful captain in the cash-rich league. He feels Dhoni is doing more harm to his legacy by not contributing in crunch moments.
“His match-winning memories are there in our minds. We still remember Dhoni of old times. We don’t want to see Dhoni in the current state where he is showing no intent to win matches. Win or defeat can happen to anyone, but you need to show some fight.
“This is what Delhi Capitals did in the match against CSK. I fear for MS Dhoni’s legacy. It could diminish. Truth is always bitter, but you can’t run away from it,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said.
