Former batter Mohammad Kaif has highlighted how India can learn from Australia in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He mentioned that the Aussies know where to target Virat Kohli to dismiss him. Kohli was caught behind for the 42nd time, which takes the percentage of this mode of dismissal to 21.4 percent.
Kaif stressed that Scott Boland, who doesn’t play regularly for Australia, knows about Virat Kohli’s weakness. He wants the Indian bowlers to use similar tactics against Travis Head, who scored 140 runs off 141 balls at the Adelaide Oval. Head amassed 89 runs in the second innings of the series opener in Perth.
“Bowlers know about Virat Kohli’s weakness. Bowl outside the off stump and take his wicket. Scott Boland plays two or three Tests in a year but even he knows where Virat Kohli will mess up. He will edge the ball behind the stumps,” Virat Kohli said.
“Why can’t Indian bowlers target Travis Head weakness with proper planning. Why can’t we target him with short balls? Every batters has a weakness and why can’t we plan properly against Travis Head?” he added.
Meanwhile, legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev has backed Virat Kohli to score runs in the remaining three Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Virat Kohli scored 7 and 11 in the second Test as Australia registered a win by 10 wickets. Earlier, he scored a second-innings hundred in India’s victory by 295 runs in Perth.
