Former England spinner Monty Panesar hailed Ravichandran Ashwin after the Indian player retired from the Indian Premier League. Ashwin, one of the best spinners, bid adieu to the tournament on August 27. He played for Chennai Super Kings in the 18th season of the IPL but wasn’t among the top performers.

Panesar highlighted Ashwin’s growth as a bowler. “He made his mark in the IPL and then became a great bowler across formats,” Panesar told IANS on Wednesday.

Panesar explained how Ashwin pushed boundaries and turned challenges into opportunities. “He came up with new variations to beat batters. He earned the reputation of being a true scientist of spin,” Panesar added.

He played for CSK, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, Pune Rising Supergiant, and Rajasthan Royals. Ashwin ended his IPL career as the fifth-highest wicket-taker with 187 scalps from 221 matches at an economy rate of 7.2. He retired from international cricket after the third Test between India and Australia last December.
