Lahore Qalandars’ fast bowler Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 due to shoulder dislocation. He was injured during the last game against Karachi Kings. He landed on his shoulder while trying to take a catch.
He was taken for scans immediately, and now the reports have emerged that the pacer will miss the remaining season of the PSL 9. There is no official update on his return, and his absence could be a significant setback for Pakistan, considering the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in June.
Rauf hasn’t been in form since the World Cup in 2023 and is leaking runs in white-ball formats. In last night’s match against the Kings, he bowled an impressive spell, taking 1 wicket while conceding 22 runs from his four overs.
His franchise captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, expressed concern over his teammate’s injury. “I hope he returns soon, and we are praying for him,” he said after Lahore’s fourth consecutive defeat in the ongoing season.
Contract termination and ban on participation in overseas leagues
Pakistan Cricket Board recently terminated his central contract after he was guilty of breaching the rules and regulations. Rauf had refused to play a three-match Test series in Australia, citing injury concerns and workload management.
However, he was declared fit by the medical panel of the cricket board. Rauf had initially agreed to play against the Pat Cummins-led team but changed his mind at the last moment. He was seen playing for Melbourne Stars in BBL 2023-24 during the tour of Pakistan.
He will not be allowed to play in overseas T20 leagues till June.
