“From Ricky Ponting to Tim Paine, they spoke about Virat, Virat, Virat, Virat, and Virat”: Basit Ali explains how other Indian batters can score runs against Australia

Basit Ali pointed out that Virat Kohli is Australia’s primary target in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. He suggested that the other Indian players can score runs as they can fly under the radar.

He mentioned that the other Indian batters should make the most of the chances and flourish in the five-Test series.

“From Ricky Ponting to Tim Paine, they spoke about Virat, Virat, Virat, Virat, and Virat. The remaining batters have a chance to deal in runs. Australians always go after one or two players. The others can take it easy,” he said.

In 25 Test innings, Virat scored 1353 runs, with an average of 54.08 in Australia.

Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the first Test due to a fractured thumb, and Basit Ali wants Dhruv Jurel to take his place.

“Dhruv Jurel should be a part of Playhing XI. He is in good form and the team should take advantage of that. Make him bat at the No.3 slot. He can cut and pull the ball,” he added.

In the second unofficial Test between India A and Australia, Jurel scored 80 and 68.
