India and Pakistan are at loggerheads over the model of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. While Pakistan want to host the entire tournament in the country, India have refused to travel due to security reasons. The BCCI is pushing the decision-makers to host their team’s matches in the UAE. After a lot of drama, it seems the International Cricket Council has warned Pakistan to accept a hybrid model or else lose the hosting rights.
The governing body of Pakistan cricket is likely to accept the formula with two conditions. They want an increase in their overall revenue from the ICC and a hybrid model for the ICC tournaments scheduled in India until 2031.
Former Pakistan player Kamran Akmal has urged the PCB to take a strong decision against India.
“The overall scenario is disappointing but enough is enough. Pakistan played in India during the 2016 T20 World Cup despite our match being shifted from Dharamshala to Kolkata. Pakistan had reservations about playing in Ahmedabad in last year’s ODI World Cup, but we still agreed to compete in that city,” he told Telecom Asia Sport.
“Pakistan will have to make a firm decision and stick to it as enough is enough. That will help Pakistan a lot. On the one hand, they don’t want to play in Pakistan due to political issues but have no problems playing against us in their country, and this is a double standard.”
