“Do that against a better team or in a better competition”: Ex-player gives reality check to Hardik Pandya after his sensational batting against Bangladesh

Hardik Pandya was at his best in the first T20I between India and Bangladesh. He scored an unbeaten 39 runs off 16 balls, hitting two fours and as many sixes. Before that, Hardik also completed his quota of four overs, conceding just 26 runs and taking one wicket.

Although Arshdeep Singh was named the Player of the Match for taking three wickets, Pandya was the major talking point.

However, former India seamer RP Singh said that Hardik’s performance cannot be used to judge his ability as Bangladesh are not a strong rival team.

“You can’t judge a player’s form on the basis of his performance against Bangladesh. They are not playing good cricket at the moment,” RP Singh said at Jio Cinema.

“Hardik looked good and is capable of producing such all-round performances but I don’t think we can take this performance into account while judging him. He needs to perform in the same fashion against a better team or in a better competition,” he added.
