Deepak Chahar is a part of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2025. After spending several seasons with Chennai Super Kings, he joined MI for INR 9.25 crore in the mega auction. The pacer didn’t enjoy much in the previous two games but bowled well in the team’s third contest with Kolkata Knight Riders. He dismissed the likes of Quinton de Kock and Venkatesh Iyer and played a key role in dismissing the rivals at 116 runs. The hosts didn’t have any trouble during their run chase and won the game in 12.5 overs with 8 wickets in hand.
Chahar spoke to Aakash Chopra, Harbhajan Singh and Anant Tyagi after the game at the Wankhede Stadium. Bhajji, who was a part of CSK and MI during his playing days, asked Deepak about the difference between the top two franchises.
“CSK have one leader, but MI have many leaders. This is the biggest difference between the two sides. The team atmosphere is also different,” he said.
He was talking about MS Dhoni’s presence in Chennai Super Kings. In Mumbai, his reference was towards Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah.
The right-arm speedster also shed light on the playing styles of Mumbai and Chennai. “Both teams compete to win the IPL. You are told from day one that the franchise is looking forward to liftng the trophy. When I was with CSK, the management told me to prepare as if I was bowling the last over in the final of the IPL. The batters were told to think that they are batting in the last over of the final. The only focus is on winning the championships,” he added.
