Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Chennai Super Kings, registering their second win in the Indian Premier League 2024. On the other hand, CSK lost their second successive game in the 17th season. Chasing 163 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad were never in trouble, and with Abhishek Sharma going on a rampage from the start of the innings, there was no chance left for the visiting team.
Former CSK player Harbhajan Singh felt that the five-time champions could have won the game had the team not allowed Abhishek Sharma to break free at the start.
“Chennai could have won the match against SRH had they stopped Abhishek Sharma from going after the bowlers. They should have kept SRH’s powerplay score in check. CSK lost the game because of these two points,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.
Abhishek took 12 balls to score 37 runs, hitting 4 sixes and 3 fours. The Pat Cummins-led team was 78/1 in 6 overs.
Apart from Abhishek, Travis Head (31) and Aiden Markram (50) were good with the bat as SRH won the game by 6 wickets. The chase was completed in 18.1 overs. Earlier, SRH bowlers kept the CSK batters in control. Shivam Dube was looking dangerous, but Pat Cummins’ clever bowling sent him back. The southpaw amassed 45 off 24 deliveries, including 4 sixes and 2 fours.
