Babar Azam surpasses Virat Kohli in T20I runs record

Babar Azam has dethroned Virat Kohli from the top spot on the list of most runs in T20Is. He is now the highest run-scorer in the shortest format of the game. Pakistan captain scripted the record in his team’s opening game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 against the United States of America.

Babar has amassed 4043 runs at an average of 41.25 and a strike-rate of 129.58 in 113 innings. The right-handed batter has hit 3 hundreds and 36 fifties.

Virat has accumulated 4038 runs at an average of 51.11 and a strike-rate of 137.95 in 110 innings. Kohli has hit 1 ton and 37 fifties.

Rohit Sharma is third in the elite group, with 4026 runs from 144 innings. He has managed his runs at an average of 32.20 and a strike-rate of 139.98. Rohit has struck 5 centuries and 30 half-centuries.

Meanwhile, Virat scored just 1 run in India’s opening contest against Ireland. On the other hand, Rohit came up with a fifty-plus score in his team’s 8-wicket victory.
