Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has criticised Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan for their failure to win matches for the country. According to him, the two are no longer key players of the team. Babar and Rizwan were not selected for the Asia Cup 2025.
The duo has been sidelined from the shortest format since the tour of South Africa. Hafeez highlighted that the two seniors lack match-winning performances for Pakistan.
“You can’t call them key players. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are not match-winners of Pakistan,” Hafeez said.
They are failing across formats, and their poor performances in ICC events have impacted the Men in Green. Hafeez called the trio of Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub and Hasan Nawaz the consistent contributors of the team. He also spoke against Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
“Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub and Hasan Nawaz are giving consistent performances and winning matches. However, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi are not giving their best,” he added.
Salman will lead Pakistan in the Asia Cup while Shaheen has been given another chance. Pakistan will compete in a T20I tri-series against Afghanistan and the UAE before the Asia Cup.
