Chopra was left impressed by Axar Patel and stated that he should be preferred over Ravindra Jadeja. Axar registered the figures of 2/17 in the second T20I against Afghanistan and won the player of the match award for his performance.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra voiced his preference, stating, “When Axar Patel receives the Player of the Match award, it makes me scared because he was dropped from the team after earning the award in two consecutive matches last time. The team opted not to include him in the South Africa tour, and the course of action regarding his recent award remains uncertain.”

While Chopra considers Axar Patel as his top choice, he also pointed out that the management might go ahead with Jadeja, as hinted by his appointment as the vice-captain. The former Indian opener highlighted the ongoing lack of clarity regarding the primary spinner who can also contribute with the bat, suggesting Axar Patel for the role.

“It’s not clear yet who will be the primary spinner batting at No. 7, whether it’s Ravindra Jadeja or Axar Patel. According to me, Axar Patel is the better choice. However, since Ravindra Jadeja was made the vice-captain in the last series, the team might be considering him for the role.”
