Ravichandran Ashwin played his 100th Test in the five-match series against England. He joined the elite list of Indian cricketers, who have been part of 100 red-ball matches for India. Ahead of his milestone game, former spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan wanted to congratulate him but the off-spinner didn’t answer his call. Taking to social media, Sivaramakrishnan wrote that Ashwin disconnected his calls and didn’t reply to his messages.
“Tried calling him a few times to wish him for his 100th Test. Just cut off my call. Sent him a message, no reply. That’s the respect we former cricketers get,” the former India spinner wrote on X.
Sivaramakrishnan issued a clarification that he never disrespected Ashwin.
After that, Ashwin also reacted and wrote. “Ok sir, after deciding when and where”. The post had an image of Laxman Sivaramakrishnan with this line: “Call me please’. Now, the former has again added fuel to the fire. “He is not the most important person in my life,” he wrote.
Ashwin is with Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. He will have to play an important role for the side if the players want to lift the trophy. Rajasthan have won their first game, beating Lucknow Super Giants.
Sanju Samson Riyan Parag were the star performers with the bat, while Trent Boult was unplayable as a bowler.
For Lucknow, KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran batted well.
