Anil Kumble highlights Sanju Samson’s biggest problem in international cricket

Former India spinner Anil Kumble has highlighted Sanju Samson’s biggest problem of his international career. The right-handed batter will open the innings in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. The Men in Blue are in the Rainbow Nation for four matches, with Suryakumar Yadav being India’s captain.

After two consecutive ducks in Sri Lanka and the below-par scores against Bangladesh, the right-handed batter returned to form with a brilliant hundred in the final game with the Tigers.

However, he hasn’t been consistent despite making his debut in 2015. Kumble highlighted this aspect of the game. “There have been talks about keeping him in the team and his recent hundred against Bangladesh will certainly help him. We know his ability as a batter and he is a class act,” Anil Kumble said on JioCinema.

The former captain mentioned that Samson would be able to show his talent if he is given a chance in the top order.

“Consistency is a big issue with him and I think the selection committee is aware of this concern. Placing him in the top order and making him bat as an opener or giving him a chance at number three or four is the right approach. You can maximize his potential. He has got a plenty of time against the pacers and he can be devastating in front of the spinners,” he added.

“It will be intresting to see how he handles the pressure in four matches against South Africa.

The opening match of the series will be played on November 8 at the Kingsmead Cricket Stadium in Durban

The remaining three games are on November 10, 13 and 15.
