Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player AB de Villiers has heaped massive praise on Ellyse Perry for taking the side to the final of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024.
RCB defeated the defending champions Mumbai Indians by 5 runs in a low-scoring Eliminator. The Smriti Mandhana-led team scored just 135 runs but restricted MI to 130.
Taking to X, De Villiers lauded the RCB for clinching a memorable win.
“In the Final! Ellyse fantastic, as she’s been all season, and a great performance by @RCBTweets, holding their nerve in the end, to knock out the defending champion. Just one more game, one more win… Come on #RCB! Always Play Bold.”
RCB will now face Delhi Capitals in the final on Sunday, with the latter making it to their second consecutive title shot match.
Perry, who amassed 66 off 50 deliveries and registered bowling figures of 4-0-29-1, praised her teammates for defending 135.
“It is good to be in the final. The girls kept calm to defend a low total. You gotta take the opportunity when it comes. The last couple of days have been nice and now it is important to perform well in the final” she said.
